Many of the people I photograph have never met someone from Iran before. At the same time, my own understanding of America was shaped by films, media, and distance. These portraits emerge from the moment when those imagined images collapse, and two strangers meet face to face.
All photographs were taken in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, from 2023 to the present.
